worth coming home for.

Just before I flew south to spend the holidays with my family, I got together with some of my best girlfriends for our annual Christmas potluck. It was the first time I had seen all of them since I had moved away!
They’re such an amazing group and I’m honestly so lucky to have them in my life. As one of them would so eloquently say, we have the most fun in all the land. There have been moments when my stomach has somersaulted at the thought of getting on a plane in two weeks and not knowing when I’ll see them next. I periodically suffer from a severe case of FOMO (fear of missing out) and had my fair share of times when living far away felt overwhelming and lonely. I know my other expat friends can relate.
But dawning Santa hats, clinking wine glasses, exchanging presents and making funny faces for the camera made me forget all of that. It was as if I unpaused from where we left off from last time, and isn’t that the way it should be?
